weeks 8 & 9 (10-24/12)

In the past two weeks we work hardly in order to do our first round of testing.

We worked in two streams;

  1. The research stream: we interviewed senior management and lecturer in the school of computer science. Are goal is to understand how those people deal with student lack of motivation, in which direction they react when a student with doubts about his studies came up to them.

We met Tami the past dean of the CS school. Estee the director of the dean's office. Both gave us a good impression of how the school staff see the lack of motivation among students. We also got some different direction on how we can see the reason for the lack of motivation.

We also met prof. Shachar Eyal the head of the MA program in social psychology, a researcher of decision making. Shachar also gave us a good psychological perspective of student lack of motivation. Furthermore Shachar talked with us on his REVISE model for decision making and few experiment who used mirror etc. to check how people choose to behave in an unethical way, shachar think we can take the REVISE model and use it for motivation.

REVISE- REMIND, VISIBILITY, SELF ENGAGEMENT.

  1. The second stream: we conduct our first round of testing.

In the session we put the mirror in front the student aquarium, around the mirror we put a red carpet. On the mirror we put a tablet with a short presentation.

When a student set in front the mirror he put the head phones and start the presentation. In the presentation we asked the student which is the course he hate the most, after a short Audio file was played. In the Audio the student could listen to a CS alumni talk about his experience and the point he reached after school.

We got some interesting results we are going to deal with this week J
